Kimono Summary:
This is a furisode kimono. What is a furisode? We quote The Book of Kimono, pp. 54 and 55: "The most important kimono in a single woman's wardrobe is the furisode with its long flowing sleeves, richly decorative designs and beautifully blended colors." This furisode has a base color of sea green-blue, and has flowers of rose, pink, white and blue. These flowers might be botan (peonies), which are sacred flowers in Buddhism. There are also grey and white leaves. The condition of this furisode kimono is good. There are some minor tea-colored stains, including on the lower left bottom hem and the back of the right sleeve. Because this is a synthetic fabric, this kimono is more readily dry-cleanable than silk ones. As you can see if you click the "click here for more pictures" button, the lining of this furisode kimono is white with a pinkish edge area of about 3 inches.
